Sport and Orthopaedic Physiotherapist – University of Guelph HPC

The Health and Performance Centre at the University of Guelph is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Sport Physiotherapist to join our team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and coaches to provide high-quality sports physiotherapy services to a diverse population of clients, including: varsity, club, community athletes, and the weekend warrior. You will have the opportunity to treat athletes in a state-of-the-art sport medicine clinic and field-side.

Responsibilities:
• Assess, diagnose, and treat sports-related injuries and conditions across a variety of ages and skill-levels
• Develop and implement treatment plans to aid in the recovery of injuries and conditions
• Provide education and guidance on injury prevention strategies to athletes and teams
• Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for athletes
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records. This includes communicating injury and return to play status regularly to coaching staff
• Under the guidance of the Clinic Director, support and mentor the sport physio fellow through the duration of their fellowship
• Provide field coverage for various varsity, OUA and elite community teams and events
• Develop partnerships with campus stakeholders and community teams

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy
• Current independent registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
• Minimum 1 year as sports physio and/or on field sports trainer
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and in a face-paced setting
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
• Comfortable providing field coverage for various teams and events
• Sport First Responder certification is required prior to providing sport coverage
• Sport certificate or diploma is an asset
• AIM Level courses would be considered an asset
• Concussion courses and experience would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will start the position in August and will be required to provide support during varsity training camps in Aug. and Sept.
