Course description

Participants complete foundational online learning prior to attending an immersive weekend of hands-on clinical training at Shift Concussion Management’s flagship clinic in Guelph.

The course bridges current concussion research with real-world clinical practice, providing clinicians with practical tools they can immediately implement in the assessment and management of both acute and persistent concussion presentations.

Topics include:

– Current best practices in concussion diagnosis and management
– Clinical assessment of cervical, vestibular, ocular, autonomic, exertional, headache, sleep, cognitive and mood-related impairments
– Differential diagnosis and identification of concussion subtypes
– Exercise prescription and progression strategies
– Return-to-sport, return-to-school and return-to-work planning
– Persistent symptom management and complex case considerations
– Clinical reasoning through case-based learning
– Hands-on assessment and treatment techniques

The live component emphasizes practical skill development through demonstrations, small-group labs, clinical discussions and patient case integration.

Whether you are new to concussion management or looking to refine and advance your clinical approach, this course is designed to provide a structured framework for confident, evidence-informed patient care.

Details

Live course portion will be held at 205-1515 Gordon St. Guelph from Oct 3-4, 2026. Instructors Scott Haller, OsteoMP (President of ShiftCM) and Dr. Kailin Walter, DC (Director, ShiftCM) will lead the course. A Level 1 introductory course is to be completed online ahead of the live course date (About 7 hours of on-demand learning). Those who have already completed Level 1 with ShiftCM can register for the Level 2 portion only. Repeat attendance is welcome for those who have taken Level 2 in the past and wish to refresh their knowledge. Early Bird Discount available until the end of July.
