Course description

Presented by Dr. Ian MacIntyre, manual therapist, and Dr. Sean Kings, medical doctor, a weekend of small group, lecture-style learning, practical components of therapy, rehabilitation, ultrasound, breakaway groups, and round table discussions. This course is intended for any health care professional involved in managing shoulder pain and injuries, in any population.

Topics:
• Physical examination and diagnostics, the role of diagnostic imaging.
• Combining medical management with physical rehabilitation for injuries.
• The efficacy and indication for biological injections (i.e. cortisone, platelet rich plasma, hyaluronic acid).
• Surgical vs. non-surgical interventions / when medical referrals are warranted.
• Practical demonstrations of diagnostic ultrasound.
• Practical sessions for manual therapies.
• Practical sessions on rehabilitation.
• Rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, impingement disorders, instability, labral pathology, etc.
• Trigger point therapies.
• Timeline involved with return to play.
